May 13, 2013

One of the perks of living in Mexico is Mother's Day. Mother's Day in Mexico and Mother's Day in the US are on different days...and that means a weekend long celebration!!!
Mother's Day in Mexico is a very very big deal!!
Our celebrations began with a quick trip to El Paso...
While there....The Farmer purchased a small gift...something I had been wanting
since The Brotherhood made a trip to The Ranch during Spring Break....
I LOVE it!!!...by the way!

Saturday we awoke to the sound of the phone ringing...it was the Missionary Boy..
.calling to let us know what time we would be Skyping on Mother's Day.
He had 30 minutes to talk...and it was wonderful!!!
To hear his voice was the best!

PreShie made me a whole plate of chocolate covered strawberries...
which were divine!

Sunday morning...The Farmer return home from his early morning meeting... ready to talk to The Missionary Boy...as he came in...he had a funny look on his face...when I asked what was wrong...he held up his cel. phone which had a picture on it...the baby bull calf...Ramses... had been born!!! We weren't expecting that to happen for awhile... A very fun Mother's Day gift!

The very very best part of Mother's Day was talking to the Missionary Boy!
He will be home in four short months...I can hardly believe it!! He sounded great! We laughed...we cried...we talked about this incredible experience that has been his...the mission. We talked about what he has learned...his testimony...and how it breaks he heart to think if leaving a place he has loves. It's the people he loves...it is hard to leave those you have served.
It was an incredible day!! We attended church in a small branch that is patiently waiting for their new small building to be completed. Right now they meet in a very small home, that isn't meant to be a church. What special people they are.
We returned home to a wonderful meal, prepared by the men in the family.
Mother's Day weekend...was very very nice!!

And one of the greatest gifts of the day was the phone call/Skpye we had with The Missionary Boy!! Oh my goodness it was incredible to see him and hear him!!! The cousins all arrived to each take a few moments with him. The Farmer's Mother also stopped by to say hello. He was able to Skype from the home of some wonderful members in his ward. We were thrilled to "meet" them and see the people who are caring and loving The Boy while he is away. They were great!!! I hope we get to meet in person one day. We also got to "meet" The Missionary Boy's companion...from Switzerland...he is so great! They have become very dear friends. And I might add that the cousins thought he was one handsome companion;)

We talked about everything! He shared some very special experiences with us...and The Farmer in turn shared some great things with his missionary son. We laughed...we shed some tears together... we were emotionally exhausted when it was all over;) It was the most incredible Mother's Day yet!! Oh...and one last very special gift...The Farmer had a BIG choice to make...and he chose his family...he is a very dutiful man...and so the choice was a hard one...but it is one of the most special gifts that he has given to me...I do love that Farmer of mine;) The Missionary Boy may be headed for another move....I guess we will find out on Wednesday!!

Adoration....

When we brought PreShie home from the hospital after she was born...
The Boy...who was only 18 months old, held her on his little lap and
patted her so tenderly while saying ...
"Babe....Babe...."
He called he that for a long long time.
He loved her from the moment he held her...and she has adored him, wanting to be where he was, and do what he was doing...she has been has biggest fan. Skip ahead a few years...and
many sibling moments where The Mother has wondered if they would ever like each other again...but always when times were difficult or really great...they have been each others
greatest supporter. This year has been a little different. She knows his mission is coming up soon....he too knows that before long, he won't be around for the teasing moments. Now I hear them talk about their challenges with each other...I hear her ask him about her outfits and if she looks cute. And I hear him kindly encouraging her or complimenting her.
Yesterday she came from school and told me of an experience she had had with The Boy at lunchtime. He had defended her, quite publicly, for something she had not done.
He stood up. He stood up for her.
I can't begin to explain the look I saw in her eyes as she told me what her Big Brother had done for her. It was pure love, it was adoration. It was how I had always hoped it would be.
The Boy didn't mention the experience...but when I asked...he recounted the moment and said
he had most likely lost a few friends...but that was okay with him.
And I said..."Boy...you stood for the right today and I am proud of you...but most of all
you stood for your sister today...and that means everything to me...and to her."
On the way home from an activity last night..PreShie and I were alone in the car....she said..
"Mother dear I love you so.....(not really but I can pretend right???)
what am I going to do when the Boy isn't around to help me....I am a little afraid."
And I said..."You don't need to be afraid PreShie everything will be just fine...but you will
now need to take care of The Rooster like The Boy has taken care of both of you.
It will be your job to care for him." And she agreed.
Here's to The Darlings.....they know what family is all about!

Mother Of The Year????....Not This Year!

March 17, 2009

And here are all of the reasons why...this will not be the year that I am awarded
"MOTHER OF THE YEAR!"
Last week....after several days of being sick, The Boy called from school to tell me
that his eyes felt like they were going to pop out of his head. Not a good sign.
I called The Farmer and quickly made an appointment to see the local Ear, Nose and
Throat Doctor. After he gave The Boy a check up, he informed us that, he, The Boy
had a horrible sinus infection....HORRIBLE!!! He will not only need one treatment of antibiotics but he will need TWO! It was that bad. The Dr. then turned to me
and said "why have you not brought him in before now???"
And he said it in that TONE that Dr.'s can take, when the parent has been irresponsible.
And my answer...."I don't know."
So there you have it....reason number ONE!
REASON #2
PreShie too, has been very sick. And again, I waited and waited to take her to the Dr. until finally it became obvious that she was not getting better. We called the Dr. and he came to the house. After listening to her breathing and checking her lungs, he announced that
PreShie had a HORRIBLE case of bronchitis! YES, BRONCHITIS!
He promptly gave her a shot, which by the way, nearly ruined her life, and he then
went on to describe how very sick she was, and that if she did not improve that night,
she would need to be admitted to the hospital. He gave her a load of medicine as well
as breathing treatments. She is ....thankfully...doing much better.
REASON #3

We ran out of the good stuff (below), that is....GRANOLA. And so what is a Mother to do
when the granola jar is empty?????
Well, fill it up with
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES...of course!
And so I did.

Maybe, had The Darlings had a little granola...they wouldn't have been so sick;)

MOTHER OF THE YEAR???? Not this year!
Maybe next year.
Wish me luck....actually....
Wish The Darlings luck....They are going to need it!
*as I write, The Rooster is sick on the couch...we have some bad "sick" karma
at out house right now....ugh!
