Last night I spent time with My Rooster decorating our Santa Tree and just talking.
That boy LOVES Christmas and starts getting the Christmas spirit usually around
the 1st of November. This year we have been working on a major renovation
of our home and it really turned our lives upside down for a bit. All the while we
knew that the holidays were quickly approaching and both he and I were wondering if
we would be able to decorate our home for Christmas.
It was stressing me out... and it was making him sad.
 Well...it's done!
The construction site is cleaned up...although I am not sure I will EVER
get the dust out of my house! Our tress are set up and we have a constant fire in the
fireplace. It has been so fun to get our home ready for this special season.
So last night...The Rooster and I finished decorating the Santa Tree.
He carefully placed our ornaments that we have had for many years.
As we decorated we talked. We talked about things that are going
on in our lives right now...school...firends...just plain stuff!
 But is was great stuff.
The Rooster isn't a big talker...he's alot like The Farmer.
They are quiet, but grounded and strong.
I loved my time with My Rooster last night...it made me happy!

 Around 8:30 our phone rang.
On the other end was a sweet cousin who just happens to live in Sis. Precious' mission.
Sis. Precious does not live in her area but ended up being there for an
evening to attend some meetings. The sister missionaries who live in our cousins ward,
let her know that Sis. Precious would be there and so they planned to meet for dinner.
Cousin Karen took them to have Mexican food and she said that they talked and
 talked and talked. She said
"...I wish so much that you could see Sis. Precious!... she is doing so well!
In fact she is literally glowing...she is so happy."
She must have said that 4-5 time..."Oh how I wish you could see her."
And so...I wept. That's what missionary moms do right?!
Sis. Precious has a new found and intense interest in family history.
She asked Cousin Karen everything she could to find more information about her
heritage. Sis. Precious said that he always remembers what her Dad told
her as she left for her mission..
."Remember who you are...and where you come from."
And for that reason she is hungry for more knowledge of her ancestors,
so that she might understand more fully..."from where she comes."
Cousin Karen and I talked more...I cried more ;)...and then she told me that she
needed to go so she could pick up Sis. Precious and take her back to her area.
"Is there anything you want me to tell her ?"
She asked...and I said with tears running down my face...
"tell her that I love her with all of my heart and that I am so proud of her!!"
And we said good-bye. Man do I miss that girl of mine!
But how grateful I am that she has chosen to serve this mission!

On another note...The Aggie Boy will be home in another week! YAY!!!
I can't wait to have My Boys together for a few weeks!
 Let the Mothering begin!!! ;)

The Farmer wanted to know where Sis. Precious was living...
so he Google Mapped it!
He did the same when the Aggie Boy was serving in London...
It's fun to see where our missionaries are living...

Sis. Precious is 20!

Happy Birthday to our dear Sis. Precious last Saturday!!! ]
Oh my goodness we miss this beauty... She bring so much life to wherever she goes!
I was telling her through a letter last week, that I couldn't believe that she was 20...and she replied that she felt old and that when she returns from her mission, she will be the ripe old age of 21!
And then I reminded her that when I served a mission for our church...
the age requirement was 21 and when I returned home I was 23.
Then she didn't feel that old anymore!

The week before her birthday a Stake Conference was held in her area and the visiting
General Authority was Elder Daniel Johnson and his wife Leann. They are from our area,
and Elder Johnson spent years as the Area President of Mexico, working very closely with
The Farmer. He is a friend and a relative...so when Sis. Precious heard he would
be attending she was thrilled. We are grateful that he was able to
take a moment to tell her hello...and snap a quick picture.

I got a quick note from her mission mom on Saturday where she let us know
that Sis. Precious has been released back to regular missionary work and is
recovering beautifully from her car accident. She still has things to take care of...but she
is on the mend. Sis. Jardine also said that she and Pres. Jardine had called Sis. Precious
early Sat. morning to sing Happy Birthday to her!
 I thought that was amazing!
We are beyond grateful for this beautiful daughter.
She blesses us as parents in so many ways!
We are especially grateful for her missionary service.
We think she is pretty special!!!
We love our Sis. Precious!!

Missionary Monday...

SAM_0009 Monday's are a joy!
It was so great to hear from Sis. Precious today.
She is recovering beautifully from her car accident, but is still not able to work full
time as a missionary. She will soon have a follow-up MRI and hopefully will be
back to work full time. She is still so sweet and so happy to be serving a mission!
Her letters are such a treat and are so fun to read!
We love our Sis. Precious!

"She Will Be Just Fine..."

August 28, 2014

DSC_6327 copy

Early this morning my phone rang.
(I am in the states visiting the Grandparents S. with Grandpa having some health issues.)
Anyway, when I answered the call, I was greeted by Pres. Jardine,
Sis. Precious' mission president. He called to assure us that she was well...very sore...but well.
"She will be just fine..." he said "and we love her very much!"
I love him for calling this morning, to ease the worry of a Mother's Heart.
I love him for leaving his family to serve the Lord and to serve Sis. Precious...
I love him...
because...
he loves her!

Answered Prayers!!

Our Missionary Monday was a Missionary Tuesday this week.
We knew that we wouldn't hear from Sis. Precious until today, she mentioned it last week.
Around 1:30 we got a quick message from her telling us that she had been in a car accident on Monday afternoon, and that her mission president wanted to talk to us. So very quickly The Farmer made contact with Pres. Jardine. We just happened to be in El Paso... at the hospital...visiting a dear friend who is having some serious problems. The Farmer left the hospital room to talk to the mission president,
and when he returned he had quite a story to share.

photo (20)

Sis. Precious and her companion were passing through an intersection and were
broadsided by another car that had run a red light. The car was totaled, they were both taken by
ambulance to the hospital, and thankfully the mission president was very close by.
She said that the moment Pres. Jardine arrived he placed his hands on each of their heads and gave them a blessing. She was so grateful for that. So today, with her signature humor and grace, she shared this experience with lots of detail with us through her weekly letter. Her perspective is amazing! Today and I am so very grateful for every prayer that is uttered throughout the world on behalf of our
beloved missionaries. Prayers were answered today!!

Sis. Precious Update...

Sis. Precious is awesome!
Her letters are such a delight each week...we laugh... I cry a little (because I miss her)...
and she reminds us how very lucky we are to call her ours.
She has the most unique and beautiful way of finding happiness and humor in the most
mundane of situations. Each week I wonder what great adventure she has had and
how she made it fun. I love that girl!! Yesterday, early in the morning a 6.1 earthquake
hit the Napa Valley area of California. Although it wasn't right in her area, people have
reported feeling the quake right where she is. This would have been Sis. Precious' first earthquake...
and I pray her last;) The church has reported that all missionaries in that area are just fine.
 Yay!
I look forward to hearing from her today... to see what this experience was
like for her and those in her area.

This is Sis. Cleverly...The Trainer...she is a Saint I am sure;)
She and Sis. Precious were riding their bikes when The Trainer felt she was going to pass out.
They quickly stopped...found a piece of grass and The Trainer laid down.
Turns out it was the yard of a less active member;) Anyway, to pass the time...
Sis. Precious gathered sticks to surround The Trainer,
which brought alot of laughs and lightened a hard situation.

While traveling through Cd. Juarez with The Farmer...
I came across a street vendor who was selling these blow up Lucha Libre dolls...
since we love Nacho Libre so much...it was a must to send to Sis. Precious!
Oh my goodness she is loving that thing!
I also sent some funny curlers to her that I thought may help...
but turns out...not so much...after removing the curlers she said she looked like
she was ready to go to the high school prom!
So here is a little glimpse into the life of our Sis. Precious!

Missionary Monday...on Tuesday...;)

DSCN0102

It was a true Missionary Monday at our house yesterday!
Not only did we hear from our excited Sis. Precious... our home was filled with our local missionaries...
20+ of them to be exact! The came to spend their P-Day having a little much needed fun.
After a yummy lunch, The Farmer spent some time teaching and setting goals with them.
They left happy, full, and ready to work! It is always a treat to have the missionaries in our home!
Back to Sis. Precious...she is doing great!
Her fun loving outlook on life is helping her soak up every experience she is having as a missionary!
We love her letters!!!
