I Don't Want To Forget...

December 4, 2014

DSCN9991

Last night I spent time with My Rooster decorating our Santa Tree and just talking.
That boy LOVES Christmas and starts getting the Christmas spirit usually around
the 1st of November. This year we have been working on a major renovation
of our home and it really turned our lives upside down for a bit. All the while we
knew that the holidays were quickly approaching and both he and I were wondering if
we would be able to decorate our home for Christmas.
It was stressing me out... and it was making him sad.
 Well...it's done!
The construction site is cleaned up...although I am not sure I will EVER
get the dust out of my house! Our tress are set up and we have a constant fire in the
fireplace. It has been so fun to get our home ready for this special season.
So last night...The Rooster and I finished decorating the Santa Tree.
He carefully placed our ornaments that we have had for many years.
As we decorated we talked. We talked about things that are going
on in our lives right now...school...firends...just plain stuff!
 But is was great stuff.
The Rooster isn't a big talker...he's alot like The Farmer.
They are quiet, but grounded and strong.
I loved my time with My Rooster last night...it made me happy!

  745

 Around 8:30 our phone rang.
On the other end was a sweet cousin who just happens to live in Sis. Precious' mission.
Sis. Precious does not live in her area but ended up being there for an
evening to attend some meetings. The sister missionaries who live in our cousins ward,
let her know that Sis. Precious would be there and so they planned to meet for dinner.
Cousin Karen took them to have Mexican food and she said that they talked and
 talked and talked. She said
"...I wish so much that you could see Sis. Precious!... she is doing so well!
In fact she is literally glowing...she is so happy."
She must have said that 4-5 time..."Oh how I wish you could see her."
And so...I wept. That's what missionary moms do right?!
Sis. Precious has a new found and intense interest in family history.
She asked Cousin Karen everything she could to find more information about her
heritage. Sis. Precious said that he always remembers what her Dad told
her as she left for her mission..
."Remember who you are...and where you come from."
And for that reason she is hungry for more knowledge of her ancestors,
so that she might understand more fully..."from where she comes."
Cousin Karen and I talked more...I cried more ;)...and then she told me that she
needed to go so she could pick up Sis. Precious and take her back to her area.
"Is there anything you want me to tell her ?"
She asked...and I said with tears running down my face...
"tell her that I love her with all of my heart and that I am so proud of her!!"
And we said good-bye. Man do I miss that girl of mine!
But how grateful I am that she has chosen to serve this mission!

On another note...The Aggie Boy will be home in another week! YAY!!!
I can't wait to have My Boys together for a few weeks!

Very Unusual...And...Very Sweet!

Not too long ago, The Aggie Boy came home for a visit.
We do love it when he comes home! Our days were filled with fun activities and lots of delicious food.
One evening we decided that Tacos were in order and we headed off to a
favorite taco location. We ate... we laughed...we ate some more and just enjoyed being together!
As often happens during dinner in our area, young Tarahumara Indian girls come to the
tables asking for money. They are not native to our community, but have come here
over the years because they are having a difficult time surviving in the mountain
areas where they are from. They beg for change, or whatever
someone may be willing to given them.

  007

So as we were finishing with our dinner, two little girls approached our table asking for money.
The Farmer asked them if they were hungry, to which they replied "yes."
We gathered together a few tacos that had not been eaten and offered them to the girls.
They stood at the edge of our table and began to eat.
It was very obvious that they were VERY hungry.
The Farmer signaled for the waiter to bring more tacos and a few sodas. And they ate....
A few minutes passed and a few more little indian girls arrived, when asked, they
too confirmed that they were very hungry and so more tacos were ordered.
We all moved around the table and made space for them to join us...thinking that
there was no way they would actually sit with us to eat...but we were in for a very big surprise!
The sat with us and they ate! Very unusual!
I have never seen anything like this in all the years that I have lived in this area.
The Tarahumara Indians are very shy.
It is unheard of to actually have them sit and eat with you.

  008

After a few more minutes...another few little girls arrived at the table and began to eat.
We ended up with 8 little indian girls at our table.
The Farmer requested all the tacos that they could eat.
The Rooster went to the salad bar and loaded plates full of lettuce, cucumber and limes.
They ate every last piece of lettuce that he brought to the table. It was amazing to watch!
The more they ate...the happier they got and soon they were all talking and laughing!
It was a sweet sight. After sometime had passed, the mother of some of the young
girls came looking for them, wondering why they had not returned.
She stood at a distance close enough to see them but not too close as to be approached.
After a few minutes we carried a few tacos to her, so that she too might eat.
It was such a special experience for our family to have!

A Wrecked Rooster...

I am currently visiting The Grandparents S. in AZ.
The Grandpa is fighting a very valiant fight against cancer, and some days are better than others...
but he is doing his best to be strong and brave. I am so thankful that The Farmer and The Rooster are holding things together on the home front so I could spend a few days here with The Grandparents.
It has been a really nice visit. This time is also allowing me to catch up on a few delayed posts.
The Aggie Boy and a very sweet friend of his, came home for a visit a week ago.
When he comes home...he brings alot of energy with him!
It is a treat to have him around!

The Rooster really enjoyed having his brother home.
The Rooster recently wrecked his motorcycle and it left a few marks behind;)
Which required a trip to the Dr. A lecture from the Dr. (who also treated The Aggie Boy
when he...on more than one occasion... wrecked his motorcycle too!
It also required a trip to the pharmacy and a few different medications.
Thankfully he didn't break anything...

Meanwhile...Back At The Farm...

June 2, 2014

Lots going on around this place... All good!
The Aggie Boy is working his heart out, earning money for his next year of school.
He was lucky enough to get a job as a trailer driver...yes...that's right... he is a "trucker!!"
He drives the US mail to different locations around Utah.
Most often he drives to Southern Utah...sleeps a little then returns to Provo.
He is able and willing to drive at any time...and he often does!
He is working hard and saving for Fall.

He loads his own trucks...so that it is done just right...
He's kind of OCD like that ;)
On long drives...he calls and we talk for hours...
I love it!!

He says the best part of the job (other than the $$) is the morning sunrise,
which he get to see often!

The Aggie Boy recently had a follow up with the Dr. for his broken arm...
the visit went well and the Dr. told him that he had healed perfectly!
 We were grateful for that!

He's enjoying a fun and productive Summer!
I can't wait to get to Utah and see that Aggie Boy of ours!!!

This beauty will be home in just a few days...
and I am THRILLED!!!

She too had enjoyed a good job while in Provo...
and had lot of fun with more good friends that she has gotten to know there.
I can't wait to have her home where we can really soak
her for the last few weeks before her mission.

This is going full blast in my office today...the ice machine...
As quickly as the ice is made...it is used...
WOW!! It's hot around here!

Meanwhile, back at The Farm...all is well!

The Aggie Update...Part One

April 23, 2014

The Aggie Darlings are always on the move!
The Spring Semester has come to an end and they will be on the move again.
The Aggie Boy is known to find creative ways to get himself where he needs to go,
and took up a little Long boarding.

It seemed like a great idea...

But then resulted in this...a broken wrist.
The bone that was broken will require some special attention to make sure it heals correctly.
The Aggie Boy was fitted with a splint, so that the swelling could go down...
and tomorrow he will be fitted with a cast that will be his dear friend for most of the Summer!
This is the third...possibly the fourth time he has broken an arm!

Yippee!

Yes...this happened during finals week.
Yes...he had a few papers that were due... and Yes...it was his right wrist that was broken!
Thankfully his sweet sister was willing to help him finish up his required classwork.

Happy Birthday To Him...And To Me...

April 13, 2014

20131229_141920

April 12 is always a special day for me. It is the day I became and Mother.
It was also the day that I began a journey of a grieving Mother, whose heart was broken at the loss of a child.
A journey that won't end in this lifetime.
A journey that has led me through some beautiful and some very painful experiences.

Several years after that first April 12. Another April 12 arrived.
On this day, a piece of my heart was healed with the birth of The Aggie Boy.
What an incredible day it was for The Farmer and I.
As we arrived at the hospital that April 12 morning, surrounded by family to support us.
We couldn't wait to meet this Son we had so longed for, for so many years. When the moment arrived,
and he was placed in The Farmer's arms, it seemed we had known him forever.
Although life had been good before that day, it had been empty.
But on that April 12, our life as a family really began.
Yesterday I called The Aggie Boy to wish him a Happy Birthday and tell him how very much I loved him.
As he answered the phone I said..."Happy Birthday My Boy!!" To which he responded...
"Happy Birthday to you Mom!!" and he was right.
The day he was born was also a day of birth for me. I became a Mother.
How wise he was in that statement! He knows how we longed for children and how his
coming to the world was the answer to so many prayers. We have told him that his entire life.
We have also talked about his older sister. Whose plan wasn't the same as his, but how we feel her around
our family. And how grateful we are for her.
He has felt her close throughout his life.
Oh how grateful we are for The Aggie Boy!

The Aggie Boy turned 21. Wow has the time passed quickly!
In honor of him, I thought I would share some of my favorite things about Our Aggie Boy.
*He is a great conversationalist. He can and will talk to anyone and everyone.
This is one of my favorite traits of his. He and I have shared some wonderful talks.
*He LOVES to have fun. He isn't one to sit still.
*He is very loyal to his family.
*He is fun to cook for...he eats everything! and is so appreciative.
*He was a great missionary, giving his all to his mission.
*He has a soft heart and a desire to help those around him.
*He loves animals and is great with them, especially horses.
Our home and yard have been filled with every animal possible throughout his life.
It is a beautiful thing to watch him ride.
*He isn't afraid of hard work.
*He loves Mexico! This culture is a part of his soul.
*He lives with great passion with all he does.
*He has a great sense of family.

What a great blessing The Aggie Boy has been to his parents and his family.  He led us
through many "first" as parents.  He taught us how to be parents.  He taught us
how to love as parents.  He has brought us so much joy!  I cannot wait to
see what the future hold with Our Aggie Boy...he will do great things...
I am sure of that!
Happy Birthday  to Our Aggie Boy!!!
I love you with all my heart, My Boy!!!

And in other news...this guy stayed home to fish!!!
He decided that it was much too cold...the fish weren't biting, and so he headed to
Bear Lake for a Raspberry Shake!
 YUM!!

Harvey...Because It is Too Good To Pass Up...

March 23, 2014

159

Because the story gets better and better...
These photos needed to be posted for family history!
And...Harvey was not hurt in any way during this great adventure...
In fact...I think he had fun messing with The Aggie Boy!

193

Once captured, The Aggie Boy decided that he would get Harvey in the
"mule dogging" position. Great idea right? Usually, when you are getting
ready to brand and vaccinate calves, this is the position you would have
them in, so The Aggie Boy, got him on the ground,
Harvey cooperated...

196

At least long enough for a picture ;)

198

And then Harvey was done... He then decided that he didn't want
The Aggie Boy sitting on him any longer...
199

And then...Harvey was sitting on The Aggie Boy!
It was really funny. And...Harvey kept his mini horse lips pursed together
 the entire time!
Harvey is the best!...and so is the Aggie Boy!

Harvey, The Noble Steed...

March 19, 2014

Harvey...The Noble Steed.
I have written about Harvey before, but he is worth another post today!
 That is for sure!
026

Harvey is a miniature mule.
When he was born, it was thought that he would be a darling little mini
horse that the small children could enjoy and ride.
NOPE! He was born a mule.
Because he is a mini breed, he was really small at birth and thought for a
long time that he was a dog. Since so many dogs lived nearby him,
he spent a bit of time with those dogs and took on a barking/screaming
type of sound. If you are not used to hearing it...or...even if you are...it is
very unusual and startling. Really it is!

063

A while back, Harvey went to live with a man who understand horses,
and was certain that he could train Harvey and tame him.
 NOPE!...unsuccessful!
So Harvey was returned to live with a few other small horses.
But...there is the terrible scream/bark, and it was upsetting the neighbors;)
We offered to move Harvey with our horses and cows in hopes that he
would be happy and wouldn't bother anything...and...truthfully,
I really enjoy the little mule so I thought it would be a good time to have
him with our other animals.
074

The "Aggie" Darlings spent their Spring Break with us last week
and I happened to mention to the Aggie Boy, that we should move Harvey to
the nearby pasture. Then the discussion began...Harvey couldn't be put in with
the horses because he would chew their tails off, so he would have to live with the cows.
We were pretty sure he wouldn't bother animals with such long
horns on them! Now...The Aggie Boy really likes Harvey too!
So, one morning...he announced that he was going to move
Harvey to his new home. I grabbed my camera...
I knew this was going to be a lot of fun! And off we went!

082

After a bit of chasing...lots of laughing...
cars stopped on the street watching The Aggie Boy captured Harvey.
